Cities and developers across the globe recognize that they can increase asset value and attract business/people through sustainable development. Sustainable development includes improving esthetics, mobility, the environment, and energy systems. The US census determined that 80% of the population now lives in cites, up from 40% one hundred years ago. The Brookings Institution’s Metropolitan Policy Program reports that approximately 50% of the buildings that will exist in 2030 have yet to be designed. This represents a tremendous opportunity to apply sustainable development concepts. Unless cities and developers are provided with alternatives to the current energy production, distribution, and supply system; fossil fuel energy consumption will surge by 34 quads while renewable sources increase by only 3 quads over the next 23 years . This continued emphasis on fossil fuels is expected to increase carbon emissions by over 2200 million metric tons over this same period. Through partnerships with private sector, universities, and governments; companies can finance, design, and build more efficient, smarter, and esthetically pleasing energy systems. Archimedes said “give me a lever long enough and I can move the world”. Cities and developers can provide this lever by integrating sustainable energy models and practices into community development and redevelopment projects. This includes efficient land use design, technology ready infrastructure, transit oriented development …

Great let’s move 23 million people into an area that is semi desert, and see what happens. Don’t worry Tokyo Metro already has 28 million people, they seem to do just fine, but at least there is lots of water.
What ever happened to just population growth education why is their none of that anymore? When I was a kid that kind of stuff was around. And because of it I decided not to have any children… I agree there are too many people but we have brains we can cool it if they would just teach that…no its the camps for us we are bad humans they smart humans we must die!! What ever, this is all evil and unnecessary.. when packed in tight places even rats go insane what do you think you would do?
Dude I believe that the Sun has more to do with weather and warming or cooling then carbon! I have gone solar and wind and I have noted a real drop in my solar pannel out put because the sun is less radiant than the year before last I am having to add more pannels. I agree they have more than they have given us but they don’t let it out.. no its urban hells that have to be the answers.
This is not a good idea… its a good sales job… If these same bozos are in charge of banks (which they are)then we will never see this it will look more like Hitlers final solution if you ask me….
Well if your a baker “imabaker” then your in the 122 to 162 pods… I mean units per acre or 75,000 to 1,000,000,000 people all complaining about your noise or baking…. think about what that would be like… your going to be around to see it thats for sure…
If the Governmet stopped Oil from being a primary source of energy and switched to wind, Solar, Ocean, and geothermal, then the gobal warming problem would drop.
good ideas, but for them to all go into effect like Agenda 21 states, 2005-2015…well I doubt that.
